We have mentioned the street Av. de Martínez Alejos before and if you have been to the Old Town Benidorm you will have walked up or down it at some point it is the street or more accurately the avenue that runs from Cafe Crue / Ale Hop to the sea. In June there were a couple of new outlets that had recently opened the first is Churreria Rico, and the other is Waffle Wrap.
Churreria Rico is an extension of the Cafe Rico that sits on the bottom corner facing Nabab and looking out to the beach and sea beyond. Now I have to disclose I’m not a fan of Cafe Rico I have no real reason why, we have been in a few times usually when it’s winter and they close the glass doors so you can keep warm and dry while looking out at that amazing view. On every visit we have had exactly what we asked for and have been treated well by the staff but I just dont like this place, or should I say it’s not a place I choose to stop, I would rather sit outside at Nabab. That said that have refurbed Nabab and since that point all the staff seems to have changed and the old boys were great while the present staff just dont hold up for me.

Anyway let’s move to Waffle Wrap, amazing. Waffle Wrap is a franchise and this is what they say about their shops and I do feel it sums it up nicely. At Waffle Wrap you have the freedom to create your perfect treat by combining any of my offerings with ice cream and your favourite toppings, the possibilities are as limitless as your imagination.
The menu is brimming with a variety of high-quality, artisanal, and natural delights. From ice creams, waffles, and crepes to pancakes, milkshakes, fruit shakes, and slushies, there’s something to satisfy every craving.

Now I do like ice cream when in Benidorm and I usually frequent the ice cream shop on Passage de la Carretera or Walking Street just down and facing Cordoba Restaurant. Technically it’s not ice cream as it’s frozen yoghurt but I never notice the difference and they have some great flavours. But on this particular day my wife just fancied an ice cream and we spotted a new shop which was Waffle Swap they had some amazing flavours including my favourite pistachio whilst my wife will always go for chocolate. For me it’s people that make places and experiences and the staff here love their product and are passionate to talk with you about the flavours and even encouraging me to taste many, so if you are walking up of down Av. de Martínez Alejos look out for Waffle Wrap and give it a try you are limited by your imagination, and if you are in winter and wanting something warm then dont just walk past Churreria Rico pop in and try them, I promise next time it’s cool enough I will.
