I don’t normally go abroad to eat English food, there’s many reasons why not I think the main one is I love trying new things. Number 2 on my list has to be English food needs to be cooked by English people with English produce. That said there are times when I do fancy bit of home cooking and the wife can’t resist a proper Full English Breakfast.

So last time we were in Benidorm I was a little under the weather so feeling like a bit of home cooking and had heard a number of good reports about Halfway House, what I didn’t realise was it’s location has it’s slap bang in the middle of Food Street right next to the Old Town and we did not have to run the gauntlet of The Strip.

So we went twice to Halfway House, once for breakfast to be 100% transparent, I was very ill a the time see my post ‘Benidorm almost killed Me’ and my memory is very sketchy has I’ve been through the wringer a little. However, my wife had a Full English and she loved it, UK products cooked like your mother made it, well not my mother as she wasn’t the best cook but I’m sure you get my meaning. My son and his partner were with us and they also enjoyed their Full English so all round it was a good choice.

The other occasion we went which was our first time was in an evening and this was a check out the place to get some idea of what we thought their breakfast might be like, I was full compos mentis at this point and was pleasantly surprised. Halfway House has a full menu of all the UK classics, nothing fancy and I like a place that is honest and does well what it does rather than trying to be something its not. Staff were pleasant and seemed to have a laugh and joke with each other as well as customers, whilst at the same time were efficient. I have mentioned the menu and pricing in my mind was cheap, I had the fish and chips the wife went for chicken and chips. There were no complaints food was fresh, hot and good quality not massive portions but that also suits me as whilst I like my food I’m not a big eater and like to graze.

All in all Halfway House is a great place to eat in a nice location, it’s clean and if you want English food you cant go wrong, I will go back at some point.
