How to Get from Alicante Airport to Benidorm Old Town: Pros and Cons of Bus, Shuttle, and Taxi
Travelling from Alicante Airport to Benidorm Old Town can be quite easy, thanks to the various transportation options available. In this article, we will explore the pros and cons of taking the bus, shuttle, and taxi to help you decide which option suits you best.

Bus

The bus is a popular choice among travellers due to its affordability and regular schedule. Here are the pros and cons of taking the bus. I must say I have never tried this and to be honest I do think the Shuttle Bus is a good cheap option.

Pros:

  • Cost-effective: Taking the bus is generally the most budget-friendly option, making it ideal for those looking to save some money.
  • Regular schedule: Buses depart regularly from Alicante Airport to Benidorm Old Town, ensuring a reliable and convenient transportation option.
  • Scenic route: Traveling by bus allows you to enjoy scenic views along the way, making your journey more enjoyable.

Cons:

  • Longer travel time: Compared to other modes of transportation, taking the bus may result in a slightly longer travel time due to stopping at multiple locations.
  • Limited space for luggage: Buses generally have limited space for luggage, which may be an inconvenience if you are travelling with larger bags or suitcases.
  • Crowded during peak times: Buses can get crowded during peak travel seasons, which might make the journey less comfortable.

Shuttle (Pre-Booked)

Shuttles are another popular transportation choice for getting from Alicante Airport to Benidorm Old Town. Bear in mind you could be waiting for up to one hour, always note the time you present yourself then you can complain in the nicest possible way should you have to. To find the buses exit the arrivals lounge and head leftwards and you will see a travelator go down 2 floors and you will see the bus reception desks on the right. Shuttles at the time of writing cost around £24, return for 2 people. Just also be aware that in recent months regulations have changed and shuttles cannot stop outside certain hotels meaning you can get dropped a 5-minute walk away without any directions.

Pros:

  • Convenience: Shuttles provide door-to-door service, taking you directly from the airport to your accommodation in Benidorm Old Town.
  • Shared cost: Shuttles are shared among several passengers, making them a more cost-effective option compared to taxis.
  • No need for navigation: When you opt for a shuttle, you don’t have to worry about navigating the route since the driver will take care of it.

Cons:

  • Limited departure times: Shuttles may have limited departure times, which means you might have to wait until the next available shuttle if your flight arrival doesn’t align with their schedule.
  • Waiting for other passengers: As shuttles are shared, you may need to wait for other passengers to arrive before the shuttle departs, potentially causing a delay.

Taxi (Pre-Booked)

Taxis offer a convenient and direct option for travelling from Alicante Airport to Benidorm Old Town. Your driver will meet you as you exit the arrival lounge and he will generally help you with any bags and often offer you a cold bottle of water. If you don’t pre-book you will generally pay more and on one occasion our taxi driver told us there was a 2-hour wait that evening, although I don’t think that is normal. You can normally get a taxi one way for about £60.

Pros:

  • Efficiency and speed: Taxis provide the quickest transportation option, allowing you to reach your destination in the shortest possible time.
  • No sharing: Unlike buses and shuttles, you will have the taxi all to yourself, ensuring privacy and personal space.
  • Convenient for larger groups or lots of luggage: Taxis are the optimal choice for larger groups or travellers with significant amounts of luggage, as they provide ample space.

Cons:

  • Higher cost: Taxis are generally the most expensive option, so if you are on a tight budget, this may not be the ideal choice.

Now, my dear wanderlusters, the choice lies before you. The bus is a budget-friendly, if slightly crowded, option and allows you to soak in the scenery. Shuttles offer the convenience of door-to-door service and shared costs. And taxis? Well, taxis are like the cherry on top, offering a direct and efficient journey, albeit at a higher cost.

So, whether you’re a frugal explorer, a social butterfly, or a fanciful jet setter, there’s a transportation option to suit your style. Embrace the adventure, embrace the joy, and get ready to create memories that will make you chuckle in years to come.
