Introduction to Saltoki

Whenever I think of Saltoki, it brings back memories of the warm and inviting atmosphere. I’ve been a regular customer for years, watching them evolve and expand. One thing that has always stood out to me is the personal touch they bring to their dining experience. I remember sitting down with the owner, who would regale us with captivating tales of his homeland in the Basque Country while we enjoyed our tapas. It was like being transported to another world, savouring delicious food and soaking in the rich culture. And even on a day when they were completely sold out of food, their hospitality remained unmatched – offering us a drink on the house to make up for it. That’s what makes Saltoki so special – a place where you not only enjoy delectable cuisine but also feel like part of a close-knit community.

Having seen the impressive growth of Saltoki, I couldn’t help but wonder if they were still a family-owned business. Intrigued, I decided to do a little Google search, and to my delight, I discovered that they are indeed a family-run enterprise. It’s truly remarkable how they’ve managed to expand their tapas empire while maintaining their authentic and personal touch.

History of Saltoki in Benidorm

Saltoki, the pioneers of Basque gastronomy, have been tantalizing taste buds since 2000. With their unwavering commitment to bringing authentic Basque flavours to every nook and cranny of the region, they have become synonymous with culinary excellence. From mouthwatering pintxos to delectable tapas, Saltoki invites you on a gastronomic journey through the heartland of Basque cuisine.

Originating as a humble family-run enterprise nestled along Tapas Alley or more correctly Calle Martinez Oriola in the historic heart of Benidorm Old Town,  Saltoki has flourished thanks to an unwavering dedication to the excellence and authenticity of its culinary offerings.

From coffee bars to restaurants and, my personal favourite, tapas bars, Saltoki has truly made a name for itself with its diverse range of establishments. As someone who appreciates good food and great company, I can’t help but be drawn to the vibrant atmosphere and mouthwatering dishes that await at each of their locations. Whether it’s savouring a plate of patatas bravas or indulging in some freshly brewed coffee, Saltoki never fails to create an unforgettable experience for both locals and tourists alike.

Review

You know, it’s a shame to see how things have changed at Saltoki. It used to be one of my favourite spots in Tapas Alley, but lately, I’ve been hearing nothing but bad reviews. It seems like the old boss has moved on to his other restaurants, and the quality of food just isn’t what it used to be. And let’s not even get started on the staff – they can be quite pushy as they try to attract more customers. It’s a real disappointment to see such a beloved place turn into just another tourist trap.

I used to eat at this place called Saltoki, but I eventually stopped going there. It wasn’t for any particular reason, but one time I tried one of their other restaurants near Tapas Alley and it was honestly a disaster. It’s strange how two restaurants owned by the same family can be so different in terms of food quality. I guess it’s a common issue with many food establishments – instead of sticking with what they’re good at, they expand their menu to accommodate more customers, and then everything goes downhill. Personally, I’d rather go to Bar Los Pinchos Morunos. They have a very limited menu, but the food is absolutely amazing. I’d choose quality over quantity any day!

Conclusion on Saltoki

It can be a bit hit and miss but if you want tapas visit them and have a drink and a tapas if you enjoy it eat more if it’s not great move to the next bar.  That pretty much sums up my holiday moving from one cafe, bar, and tapas restaurant having drinks and a little snack, grazing and enjoying the atmosphere.
