Location
Hotel Mayna can be found nestled at Avenida Ruzafa 25. Picture yourself standing with Café Creu behind you, facing Ale Hop – a simple pivot of your gaze will reveal Avenida Ruzafa unravelling before you. Venture uphill, and a charming square on your right shall appear, adorned with a cluster of affordably priced tapas bars that thrive with local patrons. These gems of culinary tradition accompany your drink with a complimentary tapa, and should your appetite beckon for more, indulging won’t cost you much. While perhaps not rivalling the grandeur of Tapas Alley, these smaller, budget-friendly options bear a distinctive charm that keeps me returning time and again.
But, let’s resume our journey up the incline. Continue onward, and lo and behold, Hotel Mayna graces your left-hand side.

In it’s essence, Mayna proudly presents itself as a budget-friendly haven, and in all fairness, it delivers exactly what its price promises. The conveniences are straightforward – a round-the-clock reception, a tidy room equipped with an en-suite bathroom, and more often than not, a dainty balcony accompanied by air conditioning. While the onsite café remains a chapter unexplored in my experiences, do tread downstairs to the dining quarters nestled within a windowless basement – a utilitarian space rather than a delightful dining ambience. As I mentioned earlier, you indeed reap the value of your investment here; the location boasts its charm, the rooms resonate with serenity (my preference is the back of the building), and generally, Spanish guests find themselves at home within these walls.

Should your pursuit be a comfortable haven featuring air conditioning and a refreshing shower, rest assured, your needs will be met. Yet, if English television, conversing in the Queen’s tongue with the staff, or a menu reminiscent of English culinary classics fuel your expectations, a sense of disappointment might cast a shadow. Likewise, if you’re yearning for a contemporary marvel of architecture, an opulent reception area, or Wi-Fi weaving through every room, brace yourself for a shock. This is the realm of the Benidorm Old Town, where timeworn traditions dance within ancient structures. Embrace this cultural odyssey with open arms, and you’ll find Hotel Mayna to be a fitting companion on your journey.
