If you’ve read my previous posts, you might think I’m a bit picky about New Town Benidorm. However, that couldn’t be further from the truth. I do have a slight aversion to rowdy groups fueled by alcohol or other substances, but I do enjoy a good drink and live music, so the allure of the New Town is undeniable at times.

My other challenge (maybe I need some chemical enhancement) is the time of day. In the UK, I’m up at 5 am every day due to my two-hour commute to work. My body clock doesn’t just switch off on holiday, so if I manage to sleep in until 7 am, it’s a good day, no matter what time I went to bed. In the past, you could catch excellent bands at seafront bars early in the evening, which I enjoyed. However, things have changed, and now the bands I want to see all start after midnight. As my dear departed father always said, “If you aren’t in bed by 10 pm, go home” – the only funny thing he ever said.

Despite the challenges, I do venture into the New Town in the evening and try to make the most of what I want to experience, ignoring the negatives.

Exploring the Bar Scene

Upon entering the bustling streets of Benidorm New Town, you’ll be struck by the eclectic array of bars and music venues lining the vibrant promenades. Each establishment exudes its own unique charm, promising an evening filled with musical delights. From intimate acoustic sets to energetic live bands and karaoke, the city’s diverse music scene caters to every musical preference. Entry is free, but drinks may be slightly more expensive in some bars.

Savouring the Music

The aim was to catch a tribute to Bob Marley or Eminem, but both were scheduled at Jokers and not starting until midnight. There was very little to keep me occupied until then. We were also trying to track down the Soul Bar, but Google Maps and even Google Directions failed to locate the premises. Just as I was about to give up and head back to the Old Town, my wife spotted Hotel California. We had a great evening there once before with an Oasis tribute, and I went in enjoying the odd song and came out an Oasis fan – it truly was an amazing atmosphere. On March 24, Matt Fisher, a great local artist, entertained us with his humour and engaging performance. The next act was late, and the music was either not to my taste or too loud, so we left for the Old Town.

With a large sunny terrace perfect for afternoon drinking, live sports events on the big screen, and a vibrant, fun atmosphere, there are plenty of reasons to join us for a drink at the Hotel California, Benidorm. Inside, the decoration sets the mood for a relaxed afternoon or a fun-filled evening, with beautiful beach themes from Huntington Beach to Malibu Beach and even the stunning beaches of California and Mexico.

As the night drew to a close, I found myself reflecting on the profound impact of live music in Benidorm New Town. The fusion of captivating performances, vibrant ambience, and the warmth of the local community created an unforgettable evening that will forever hold a special place in my travel memories.
